Flamingos for Celebrations were delighted to help the Currambine Primary School with their recent ‘120 Day’ event. The school is located in the Northern Suburbs of Perth, catering for approximately 800 wonderful pupils.
The 120 days of school project is embedded into the Currambine Primary School numeracy plan, with this being the 3rd year of celebration.
The schools maths committee coordinates the event each year as a celebration of maths as a whole school.
The children in the junior school count the numbers of days throughout the school year and work with the numbers in a variety of mathematical ways. In higher year levels, 120 can be incorporated into maths concepts in many interesting formats. This year, 120 pink flamingos graced the school oval which allowed students and teachers to incorporate counting and subitising into their tasks and explorations.
It was also a sight to see the whole school balancing like a flamingo for 120 seconds as a finale to the day!
